Reasons A Wax May Be Declined

Contradictions

  • I am unable to perform waxing if you use Accutane, Clindamycin, Retin-A, Renova, Tazorac, Differin, Azelex, other peeling agents, or vitamin A. Or medication that will cause adverse reactions while waxing (such as blood thinners.)
  • Waxing is not recommended on skin that is broken, irritated, sunburned, or if presence of pustules or papules are present on area to be waxed.
  • If recent cosmetic surgery, microdermabrasion, injectables (i.e. Botox or other dermal fillers), or recent chemical peels using glycolic, salicylic, or other acid-based products.
  • If you have rosacea, very sensitive skin, or a history of fever blisters or cold sores (as facial waxing will cause a breakout.)
  • Leg waxing WILL NOT be performed on clients who have varicose veins, phlebitis, or diabetes.

Some Tips To Make Your Wax Service Go Smoothly

Before A Wax

  • Hair growth needs to be ¼ inch minimum in order to be ready for waxing, or 3-4 weeks since last shave or wax.
  • Exfoliate the day before your wax appointment. This can be done with a shower brush, a loofah, or an exfoliating product, like a sugar scrub.
  • No sunbathing 24 hours before wax or spray tans close to appointment - your spray tan will be removed with waxing.
  • No lotions the same day as wax appointment on areas to be waxed.
  • No deodorant (if getting underarms waxed)

After A Wax

  • Do NOT touch freshly waxed skin with hands or nails. The nails are a bed of bacteria.
  • No tweezing! Hairs not waxed need to grow out for the next time
  • Throw the razor away! Shaving in between waxing prevents you from getting the results you want. Not to mention wax appointments will be much less painful if you don’t shave and allow the wax to work its magic.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, exfoliation, creams with fragrance/irritating ingredients and excessive heat (i.e. hot tubs, saunas, hot showers/baths) for at least the first 24-48 hours after waxing.
  • No Deodorant (if underarms are waxed)
  • Keep skin moisturized – this will keep your skin soft and supple, and will also prevent ingrown hairs from forming
  • Come in every 3-4 weeks for best results and kiss shaving goodbye.
